Consuelo has had a variety of experiences as an educator, from teaching ESL (English as a second language) in public school to homeschooling her own children as well as teaching piano lessons in her community now. She has long valued the place reading plays in the education of a child but also the importance it plays in the development of a person. As an avid reader herself, Consuelo takes great joy in being a part of helping students of all ages grow as readers and come to have a lifelong love for reading. 

 

With a bachelor’s degree in ESL education from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota, 10 years of experience in nontraditional education as a homeschool mom of two, as well as cross-cultural experience from living overseas for nearly 5 years, Consuelo has worked one on one with children in a variety of settings. She believes the greatest joy of teaching is getting to know her students and the unique ways they are gifted and talented. 

 

Consuelo lives with her husband in southeast, SD and together they continue to be involved in cross-cultural Christian ministry. Along with spending time with her two college aged kids when possible, Consuelo keeps busy with a slew of hobbies including gardening, birding and poetry to name a few.
